Clinical supervision can be the part of your month or week you actually look forward to — somewhere to bring the challenging client, the session that left you unsettled, the things you can’t quite say in peer supervision.
I offer clinical supervision online and by phone, and I work with counsellors and psychotherapists at any stage of their career.
About me as your supervisor
I’m Anna Conway-Cowin, a BACP-accredited psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. My supervision training is in the Cyclical Model — a structured, relational approach that sits closely alongside the Seven-Eyed Model — and I have over 100 clinical supervision hours.
Before going into private practice, I spent years as clinical lead at a specialist trauma organisation and managed a team of senior therapists. I know the pressures that come with this work, clinically and personally.
How I work in supervision
My clinical background is Gestalt, integrated with IFS, trauma-focused approaches and creative practice. In supervision, I bring the same attention I bring to therapy: I’m interested in what’s happening between you and your client, what your own process is telling you, and what hasn’t been said yet.
I’m empathetic and gentle, but I’ll challenge where I think it’s needed. Good supervision isn’t just about reflecting back what the therapist already thinks.
What I can supervise
I have extensive clinical experience across a range of presentations. I can offer grounded supervision for work with:
- Trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, EUPD and DID
- Sexual violence, rape and childhood sexual abuse
- Domestic abuse and coercive control
- Pre-trial therapy
- Addiction and recovery
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE)
- ADHD and Autism
- Children and Young People (CYP)
- EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) work
I’m also pre-trial therapy trained. If you’re supporting clients who are involved in criminal proceedings, this is a clinically complex area with specific safeguarding and ethical demands — one I can supervise with confidence. I’ve held senior safeguarding responsibility and carry extensive safeguarding training.
Who I work with
I supervise counsellors and psychotherapists at all career stages — from trainees building their placement hours to experienced practitioners looking for a fresh supervisory relationship. I’m particularly well-placed to support therapists working in trauma, EAP and voluntary sector settings.
